Apprentices, trainees, students and the wider community are invited to attend the WorldSkills Australia Regional Competitions Open House, hosted at PEER in Albert Park.
The Open House marks the commencement of the 2026 WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition season in South Australia and offers a rare opportunity for the public to see emerging talent compete live across key trade skill areas, including electrical and plumbing.
The event forms part of the official WorldSkills competition pathway, as Adelaide prepares to host the 2027 WorldSkills Australia National Championships, reinforcing South Australia’s position as a national leader in skills excellence and workforce development.
Government representation will include the Hon Andrew Giles MP, Federal Minister for Skills and Training, the Hon Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills, South Australia and Commissioner Cameron Baker, South Australian Skills Commissioner.
The event will be hosted by Hayesy from Nova919, bringing energy and live commentary to the day’s competitions and celebrations.
Visitors will be able to:
- Watch apprentices compete in live, timed skills challenges
- Explore a supplier and industry expo
- Meet trainers, employers and industry representatives
- Attend medal presentations recognising regional excellence
- Tour PEER’s training facilities and learn about vocational career pathways
WorldSkills Australia competitions play a critical role in developing industry-ready skills, building confidence in apprentices and trainees, and supporting the pipeline of skilled workers needed across priority sectors.
The Open House is free to attend and open to students, parents, educators, employers and community members interested in vocational education, training and career opportunities.
