PEER AMBASSADORS

MEET Isabella

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a fun fact about you?

I built my own fully functioning electric guitar in high school from scratch.

What sparked your interest in this apprenticeship?

My interest in coding and hands on work led me to look into an apprenticeship and I haven’t regretted it at all, best decision I’ve ever made.

What’s been the most epic moment for you during your time as an apprentice?

Working at Coopers Stadium.

Have you learned any surprising skills that you didn’t expect?

Just a few little hacks that come in handy in day to day life, learnt how to make a lassoo out of conduit and string to pull cable through a ceiling space, it comes in handy heaps in everyday life too.

What’s a challenge you’ve tackled that made you feel proud?

Being quite small and a female in the industry but I’ve learnt how to use my skills in a way so that my height and strength doesn’t effect me at work too much.

How do you think this apprenticeship is shaping your future?

Giving me the skills and knowledge I need to one day start my own electrical company.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work? Any cool hobbies?

I play footy, basketball, go to the gym and like to go out and have a good time with friends.

What’s your go-to movie, show, or music that keeps you inspired?

The Last Dance to keep me motivated to work hard.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about an apprenticeship, what would it be?

Go for it and just give it a go, you’ll never know if it’s the right thing for you until you try it.

Why do you think apprenticeships are a cool way to kickstart a career?

You make life long friendships and get paid while learning which motivates you to get out of bed and work everyday.
