WHAT TRADES DO PEER PROVIDE UNDER AN APPRENTICESHIP?

PEER currently delivers training to over 600 apprentices in the following nationally recognised qualifications, under the apprenticeship model:
  • UEE30820 - Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • CPC32420 - Certificate III in Plumbing
  • UEE32220 - Certificate III in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration

HOW DO I ENROL FOR TRADE SCHOOL AT PEER?

1. Select an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider to complete the sign-up process of a contract of training. PEER recommends MAS National, SYC, and ASA.

2. Nominate PEER as your RTO

3. Specify qualification to be undertaken

  • UEE30820 - Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • CPC32420 - Certificate III in Plumbing
  • UEE32220 - Certificate III in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration

4. Once you appear on the government database, PEER will contact you to arrange:

  • Upfront assessment of needs
  • Induction
  • Discussion of course involvement

HOW DO I TRANSFER TO PEER FOR TRADE SCHOOL?

If your apprentice is under a contract of training and is currently completing a qualification through another provider, you can easily transfer your apprentice to PEER to complete their qualification.

PEER will require evidence of any previous study and a copy of your Statement of Attainment to determine the units of competency you could be granted credit for. This will ensure you do not have to repeat any subjects again.

STEP TWO

PEER will contact you with information and guidance on completing a simple, 2-page ‘Transfer to New RTO’ application for submission to the Department for Innovation and Skills.

STEP THREE

Once processed, PEER will be notified, and we’ll contact you to arrange supply of your apprentice’s competency assessment information and start induction processes so your apprentice has a seamless transition.

Once processed, PEER will be notified, and we’ll contact you to arrange:

  • Upfront assessment of needs
  • Induction
  • Discussion of course involvement

PEER offers greater flexibility in training delivery, meaning the employer and the apprentice have a choice in how training is delivered, fitting in with the preferred learning style of the apprentice, and the needs of the employer. The employer decides between day or block release.

PEER provides employers and apprentices greater flexibility when it comes to training.

Apprentices can be enrolled and start training with PEER any time and anywhere. We schedule trade school around the employer’s program and the employer can decide between day or block release.

Purpose-built Training Facilities

Located on Port Road in Albert Park, our industry-leading trade training facility has been built to simulate real world work site contexts, allowing our apprentices to put their knowledge into practice immediately.

Our impressive training centre also accommodates dedicated spaces for theoretical training and skills practice, ensuring our apprentices have everything they need to help them succeed.

Peer’s virtual Classroom

Our remote training capabilities have recently been expanded and now allows for both theoretical and practical learning online.

Our virtual classroom allows for continued engagement, coaching, mentorship and support with our trainers, ensuring no apprentice is left behind and is continuing to further their career as a trade professional.

HOW DO I BECOME A FULLY QUALIFIED TRADESPERSON?
To gain a licence* and become a fully qualified tradesperson you are required to complete a nationally accredited qualification whilst under a contract of training. *Licenses needs to be applied for through the relevant authorities once you have been issued your Certificate.
HOW LONG IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?
Apprenticeships are based on a competency model, so once all on-the-job and off-the-job benchmarks have been achieved early completion is possible. The expected duration is 4 years.
HOW MUCH THEORY AND PRACTICAL?
Whilst attending trade school, you will complete a combination of theory and practical activities. PEER utilises a blended learning delivery model that focuses on integrating theory based learning, with practical workshop based activities to maximise the learning outcomes.

You are also required to demonstrate competencies on-the–job whilst working with your employer(s) for the duration of your apprenticeship.

WHO DELIVERS THE TRAINING?
Training is delivered by our Trainers who are qualified Tradespeople with industry current skills and knowledge.
CAN I JUST DO MY TRADE SCHOOL AT PEER?
Yes, PEER is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). You will need to be employed by a company under a contract of training to undertake your nationally recognised training at PEER.

Effectively, PEER will deliver the off-the-job training and your employer will deliver the on-the-job training.

WHAT PRE-REQUISITES DO I NEED TO HAVE?
You need to be employed as an apprentice and be under a current contract of training. If you do not have these then you may wish to apply for employment with PEER as a trade apprentice and be placed with one of our 150 trade based host employers.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS TO COMPLETE AN APPRENTICESHIP?
Current funding is available through WorkReady for all apprentices under a contract of training which reduces the cost substantiality. Please contact PEER to see if you are eligible for funding.

WorkReady South Australia Funding is available from the Government of South Australia in Adelaide and SA Region for eligible participants only.
