So, you want to become a
PEER apprentice or trainee?

Below is our five-step recruitment process to make sure
you are ready for the job!

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

All apprenticeship and traineeship applications must be submitted via the PEER Website > Employment > Careers

  • Upload a copy of your cover letter and resume,
  • Provide your personal contact information,
  • Answer our screening questions,
  • Record and submit a short video interview.

SCREENING

Applicants who meet the selection criteria will progress through to the Engagement Centre.

  • Drivers Licence and own transport (talk to PEER if you are on your L’s),
  • Completed Year 11 or Year 12,
  • Trade-based work experience,
  • Any previous trade-related qualifications (e.g. VET in Schools, Certificate ll in trade of choice),
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of chosen trade,
  • Ability to convey a genuine interest in the trade.

ENGAGEMENT CENTRE

This is an opportunity to demonstrate your personal attributes and skillset during a range of assessments including:

  • Group Activities,
  • One-on-One Interview,
  • Alignment to PEER values,
  • Skills testing,
  • Pre-Employment Medical,
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Trade pathway,
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PEER.

To help you prepare, we recommend you do some research on your chosen trade and also study up on PEER! It is highly encouraged that you practise for the skills testing, to ensure you achieve the best outcome on the day.

ASSESSMENT REVIEW & COMPLIANCE

Following the Engagement Centre, the Talent Team review applicant scores and assessments. Applicants who achieve the PEER benchmark criteria will be shortlisted and progressed to the Compliance stage.

Compliance may include the following:

  • National Police Clearance,
  • Reference Checks,
  • Working with Children’s Check,
  • Proof of Australian Working Rights,
  • Photo ID,
  • Proof of Licences, tickets, training.

Satisfactory outcomes of compliance checks will progress to Conditional Offer, confirming our intent to offer you a position at PEER (subject to finalising compliance and other onboarding requirements).

Once compliance has been conducted to a satisfactory outcome, you will receive a Letter of Offer (LOO), which outlines the terms or your employment with PEER.

ONBOARDING & INDUCTION

There are a few steps to complete before your first day with PEER including attending a uniform fitting, setting up a PEER Campus Account, and acknowledging PEER Policies & Procedures.

During your week of induction, the following will be covered off:

  • Signing of training contact,
  • Employment paperwork (payroll, superannuation etc.),
  • PEER induction,
  • Mentoring, wellbeing and support overview,
  • Work Health and Safety Overview.
